LOOK UP ON PURPOSE
For the past few years I have been intentional with my time off in seeing more of this world. Whether that’s exploring the backyard of Denver in the Rocky Mountains or gallivanting on black sand beaches in Iceland; I want to see the ends of the canvas God made. He paid so much attention to and put so much detail into what he created! With cascading waterfalls, skyscraper mountains, towering pines, and an ever-changing sky, I feel captivated every time I look up.
After everything else, God saved humans for last, making us in His image. What an honor; to be able to look at an immaculate sky, majestic mountains, and a boundless ocean and know that I still matter. He’s the God who named the stars in the sky (Psalm 147:4), who spoke and water fell from Heaven (Jeremiah 10:12-13), who knows the number of hairs on my head (Luke 12:7), who discerns my thoughts from afar (Psalm 139).
On every adventure, I take endless pictures to share on Instagram. I use these pictures as a reminder to myself that he’s a giving God, a loving a God, a creative God. And I brag about His glory and how brilliant He is and how He made this world for us to enjoy! When I see the detail He put in creation, I can’t help but be grateful for the detail He put in me and know that I am seen by Him … made by Him … He cares for me … He loves me.
I challenge you to look up, on purpose. Memorize that moment. Feel God’s presence in the mountains and the clouds and the sun shining on your face. Grab your phone and take a picture. Post it somewhere for you to remember God’s constant goodness.
